Happy New Year, my beautiful book friends! Even though we're taking a little break from pop-ups to reset, you can still get a lovely dose of BIPOC book fun with our monthly book clubs. First up this month is our Historical Fiction Book Club at Battlecar Beverly Hills on Tunnel Road on January 2nd. We finally get to chat about Elif Shafak's "There Are Rivers in the Sky," a stunning novel that is part history, part environmental critique, and all heart as it weaves together three timelines and three unique characters.

As we look back on 2025, our hearts are so full. This year was packed with stories, community, and a whole lot of bookish magic—and none of it would’ve been possible without y’all.
Here’s a little recap of what we got up to:
☕ Partnered with 6 amazing local coffee shops to host awesome events & create long-standing bookshelves you can browse during café hours
📚 Hosted 2 book drives supporting local literacy programs with R2S and Literacy Together
📖 Ran two monthly book clubs - Historical Fiction and Magical Realism
💄 Hosted our first-ever drag story time at Haywood Famous
🌱 Vended at two agriculture conferences in NC and SC
🎉 Spent so many good days at pop-ups, markets, and festivals connecting with our community
✨ Took part in two cohorts supporting BIPOC-owned small businesses, learning and growing along the way
2025 was about building, dreaming, collaborating, and having fun while doing it. Thank you for showing up, buying books, spreading the word, and believing in what Cuentos y Café can be. We can’t wait to see what stories 2026 brings.

¡Qué fin de semana tan alegre en el Festival de Otoño, presentado por @bounty_and_soul y @coronafineart y fundado por @artsasheville . Fue una celebración muy divertida y animada, llena de deliciosos tamales y pozole, Zumba comunitaria, bailes folclóricos de Raíces Emma y los estudiantes de W.D. Williams, y mucho más.

We had such a great time at the Chicas Market CLT’s Spooky Halloween Night Market this weekend! Miss Erleen and Doña Carmen shared some juicy gossip and sipped some cafecito. There was music, there were costumes, and there were vendors bringing you all kinds of goodies. I was excited to bring Cuentos y Café back to Charlotte for another Chicas Market, this time with some added treats from Sarita’s Healing Hub.
Shout out to DJ Kamigo for keeping two pretend grannies vibing the whole night, to my girls for the last-minute granny costumes, the Chicas Market crew for planning such community-based events, and everyone who stopped by our tent and spread the book love.
Ohhhh, and a big thank you to @lujoluxestyle for the cute jumpsuit and @dessertsbyash__ for the chocoflan that I devouredddd!

¡Lo pasamos genial este fin de semana en el mercado de Halloween de Chicas Market CLT! La señora Erleen y Doña Carmen compartieron unos buenos chismes y tomaron un cafecito. Había música, disfraces y vendedores que ofrecían todo tipo de productos. Estaba emocionada por traer a Cuentos y Café de vuelta a Charlotte para otro Chicas Market, esta vez con algunas sorpresas añadidas de Sarita's Healing Hub.

Still smiling after Sunday’s Lovely Asheville Festival 🌞✨ It was such a fun, family-friendly day—perfect weather, good vibes, and so many wonderful folks stopping by to chat and browse books.
I even snapped a few photos of some of Cuentos y Café’s colorful titles (not a pro photographer, but I love trying to capture the vibrancy of the stories I get to share with the community 💛📚).
This is just a tiny glimpse of what we offer, but it fills me with so much joy to see these books out in the world.

Todavía sigo sonriendo después del Lovely Asheville Festival del domingo 🌞✨ Fue un día muy divertido y familiar, con un tiempo perfecto, buen ambiente y mucha gente maravillosa que se detuvo a charlar y hojear libros.
